Star Bucks Logo

I thought it would be interesting to post this. I had found this image in a graphic design book that had a bunch of logos designed by many designers. Here is the evolutionary change of the Starbucks logo. Has time goes by, many things change some have to change just to accommodate to today society views and beliefs. Starbucks had started out with a very provocative logo that later on changed probably to avoid a lot of sexual and inappropriate jokes.

Honey

Communication Arts

I like the product because they incorporated some unique Mexican design because the product is sold in Mexico. I might use this as my research inspiration for my next possible project. I have a friend who has a bee hive and he might need somebody to do the design for his honey. I like how clean the design looks and it clearly states that this honey is very organic. Its a very bold design because its emphasis is it's bold type that is put into a large negative space used to get viewers attention.

Bird

Communication Arts May/ June 2013

The design was used by an African Airline. African Airlines are known to be very expensive and are usually out dated especially in design. The design was to us the African Grey Parrot, which is a loving and intelligent bird. It is loved by all people in Africa which is why it is the perfect motif. The design is very clean and very trendy which is why I enjoy this look so much.

These fonts were made by Seymour Chwast. He is a famous Illustrator know for his abstract cartoony illustrations. His art is inspired by art nouveau, and art deco. These styles are definitely incorporated into these fonts. These types are very fun and cartoony. Most of these fonts where made for some of his designs.

Movie Posters

Art of the modern movie poster : international postwar style and design

I found this in a book that was fill with old movie posters that were created and printed before computers became a tool in design.  Its astonishing that these great movie posters where never used for their DVD covers. A lot of these movies where promoted through poster unlike today where they are promoted everywhere. These posters were the only way they can advertise movies and most of the time they weren't successful in stating what the movie was about. I also noticed that most of the posters used Swiss style design which makes them look so clean and simple. These posters where made by Saul Bass.

Hitchcock DVD Design

Ryan Tym is an award winning Graphic Designer. When he had see the design for the Alfred Hitchcock DVD design, he was really disappointing. So He decided to redesign the package himself. memorable object and images from Hitchcock s movie for the motif and filling it with a unique type that fits well with his movies and the time it was made.

Hi

Print December 2012

The Hi on the building actually is an abbreviation for Harvard Innovation. Its a lab that has a contemporary design. The Hi really fits well with the building because of the geometric shape of the letters and how well it fits withe the square shape of the building. The typography they chose is perfect for the building; Helvetica. Its also feels as if the building is alive because it says Hi to you and you say hi back. Erin Deeley was the designer.

Advertisment

Print December 2012

So I have noticed this advertisement in all the graphic design magazines. Its not just previous issues, its also in current ones. The campaign is to advertise istockphoto. Stating that people dont have to commit to the company in order to get high quality images and don't need to subscribe and pay a yearly fee for their services.  However this doesn't apply to tattoos and is something that cant be undone. As designers we must be familiar with other fields of art and learn photography and other forms of art to become a better designer.

Hummingbird

Communication Arts January/ February 2013

It never occurred to me the fonts and typography was an art. I now see that it is very important and fun art to learn as a designer. I enjoy Laura Worthington's type face design because its so elegant and sensitive. I love the way each letter is capable of connecting with each other so fluently, the way it moves constantly while trying to keep the shape of a humming bird. Its a very beautiful font and I am now interested in taking up calligraphy to learn to write and create beautiful type like this.

MyThai Identity

Communication Arts Janurary/February 2013

Mythai is a Thai food restaurant in Brazil. Their logos create a sense of movement and uses a lot of Thai style art. Like Asian calligraphy and lotus flowers. The logos and designs are well done. I especially appreciate the colors, more Asian like. Its a very traditional look. Designed by Roberto de Vicq de Cumptch.

Studio Shine

Communication Arts November/ December 2012

I had found an article about a motion graphic studio, Shine. It was founder by Michael Riley. The studio had many clients from Dreamworks, Fox, to commercials. They created animated and spontaneous designs that all viewers would enjoy watching. They created opening and endings for Kung Fu Panda, Modern Family, Raising Hope, The News Room an many others. I posted the ending credits for Dreamwork's Kung Fu Panda.

Simple

Computer Arts Jan 2013
These designs where done by a graphic designer, Tristan Kromoparwiro. I find these designs very interesting because they came from a simpler idea. for the rose it started out with just a flower and he then thought it would be interesting to make the rose out of butterflies. Same for the design on the right. It started out as a picture but soon became a loud design. Really awesome designs.

Worldwide Graphic Design Latin-America

I enjoy the design, done by that is put on these snowboards. Its also important to note that graphic designer can make designs not only for bilboards, website and movies but they can work on clothes, bags, food, sports equipment, snow boards and anything else you can put your idea on. I like this piece also because it incorporates Luchadores, Mexican Wrestlers, for a unique and innovative design. You normally don't see Luchadors on snowboards. Very interesting work.

Worldwide Graphic Design Latin-America

I picked up this book because it had a bunch of graphic designs done by Latin-American. There were so many beautiful works of art that were inspired by their own native cultures. As a Mexican-American I know I can create wonderful works like these. I like this photo, done by Luis Arango. The photo was originally parts of Mexico he added a fill colored background. I really liked the one with the bird, I think the pint about the image is to change peoples perspective in what they see everyday when they walk by places they live near by. When ever I drive to school and back I will see the world around me in a different way people would normally see.

Society Of Illustrators 49th Annual Of American Illustration

When I saw the cover to this book I had to know who designed it. The cover was the album cover to My Chemical Romances for their Black Parade Album. The  artist was James Jean. The picture is a modern to to the fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood". Red is wearing an athletic jumpsuit getting ready to run away form the cybernetic wolf. If it wasn't for the Nike's logo I would have never guessed she was trying to out run the wolf. This is was cleverly done and very witty. I also really enjoy the anime style that was put into this work even the simple stamps.
